Coping Without Medication

Anxiety and depression are increasingly common in today’s world. In Ireland alone, it is estimated that up to one in ten people suffers from depression at any one time. Suffering from anxiety is even more likely.

Mental health is still something standing half in the spotlight and half in the shadows. This unfortunate stigma still lingering means that many of these people will:

– Not seek help

– Not realise they are suffering

– Not want to be put on medication and sent home

The use of prescription drugs for mental health issues is sharp in Ireland. However, medication is not the only way to cope with these issues if that is your fear.

While medication can work for some people, even improve their situation, rather than just providing some breathing room. I, of course, understand that there is still a hesitancy and others would prefer to manage without medications.

This is why I combine CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) with a range of other therapeutic practices. Basically, this means that I believe all of your thoughts and actions as well as psychical symptoms are connected. By changing a certain aspect, we can alter others.

I know this may sound daunting and complicated, but I can assure you it’s quite simple.

All CBT requires is for us to talk and examine how you feel about certain things, how you view your life and experiences, and what feelings you connect with them.
