I’m Bríd Fitzgerald, a counsellor psychotherapist in Douglas, Cork and Shannon, County Clare.
My job sounds clinical but what it really means is that I’m an excellent listener. I create a therapeutic space for you to explore thoughts, beliefs, feelings, or behaviours that affect your life negatively. With counselling psychotherapy, I support you to make healthy changes.
It’s beneficial to attend counselling if you feel you need support because you’re going through a transition or crisis in your life
Alternatively, you might be feeling lost or life may have lost its sparkle and you want to find happiness again. I can work with you even if you can’t identify any particular issue but you feel overwhelmed and unable to cope.
Within sessions, I provide a space that is free of judgement and advice. I help you find your own answers because you know what is best for you, even if it might not feel as if you do. You are not alone in this process: we form a structure with goals for your therapy and I support you to achieve them.
I work with adults and teenagers. I can help if you are experiencing any of the following:
- Anxiety or depression
- Low self-esteem
- Loneliness or isolation
- Self-harm or suicidal tendencies
- Grief or Loss
- Conflict within personal or work relationships
- Identity or sexuality
- Recent or childhood trauma
- Anger issues
- Health concerns
- Cultural Issues
I understand that the pressures of modern living can leave little time for counselling sessions. As well as in-person sessions in Cork or Clare, I provide online sessions.
